PROFILE OF KIM JONG-UN
Kim Jong-Un was born the 8th of January in the year 1983 when his grandfather Kim Il-Sung was the dictator. After the reign of his grandfather, his father (Kim Jong-Il) became the legitimate leader and after him Kim Jong-Un became the latest and actual leader. He was declared the Supreme Leader of North Korea the 28th of December 2011 following the funeral of his father. Recently he was appointed marshal giving him control over the North Korean army.
His early years were principally normal, his family needed to move from Korea and then they returned to Pyongyang where he went to the Kim Il-Sung Military University. Now that he is a dictator he can control the communication all over North Korea and one of these characteristics is the media. With that tightly-controlled media hi has been building a cult of personality around him since his father died. Kim Jong-un’s first speech was done for the 100th anniversary of his grandfather acclaiming the military first doctrine.
A few months later his leadership started he launched a rocket which was supposed to be a satellite to orbit but the mission failed being seen as a failing test over long-range missiles technology. Little is known about this men due North Korean media is controlled and this country has established the policy of isolation avoiding other countries know much about him. Right now he has taken the practices that US and South Korean armies are doing at the other side of Korea as proof that a war may come so he has prepared in case they do a false move. This crazy man is willing to set the whole world in tense for a possible war against strong nuclear powers.

Analysis
Many people live in constant fear, about a “North Korean and South Korean II War” breaking out. This surely could escalate quickly to a “III World War”, due to the possibility of countries taking side supporting each of the Koreas.
However, South Korea stands strong, with the express support of the United States of America (USA), one of the five permanent members of the Security Council of the United States (the other permanent members are China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom), The Security Council is one of the principal organs of the United Nations, and its principal function is peacekeeping with the support of the United Nations. Out of the five permanents members of the Council of Security of the United Nations, only three have declared their opinions. Everybody expected that guided by MAD (Mutuallly Assured Destrction, wich means if two parts enter in conflict and try to resolve it by using nuclear power both will end destroying each other) no country with nuclear power will be enter in a conflict with another country with nuclear power. Russia and China, countries that in the past gave their support to North Korea, were expected to that they will support Pyongyang (North Korea’s capital city). However in the last days, these countries have declared that they do not agree and do not supports Pyongyang’s decisions. The other two haven’t yet announced which country will support Notwithstanding China’s disagreement with the current situation, China have taken actions to hands, sending soldiers to protect nuclear reactors in the territory of Kim Jong-un, the young President of North Korea.
Nevertheless, specialists on North and South Korea believe that a possible war, fear by the people around the world, will not happen. Even though a scenario where a war breaks out could never be discarded. Due to the previous recent actions of the young Kim Jong-un, such as missiles and nuclear testing and his recent declaration of war against South Korea, his experience and rationality is being questioned. If finally and unfortunately the war breaks out, the world`s third largest zone of economic activity will barley survive. Global markets will suffer great damage and a catastrophic amount of lives will be lost. North Korea, have declared to be now in state of war against South Korea, however, in addition this nation nuclear power right is also menacing Guam, Hawaii, South Korea and Japan.

Background Information - History
The Korean Peninsula was a possession of the Japanese Empire from 1910 to 1945, the end of the Second World War. It was then divided at the 38th Parallel between two of the victors, the Northern part was occupied by Soviet troops while the Southern part by American forces. Because of this partition of territory, one adopted the Communist system and the other a Capitalist one.
The Korean War lasted for three years (1950-1953) and was the first significant Cold War conflict. It began in June 1950 when North Korea, supported by Stalin, invaded the South one. By a “Uniting for Peace Procedure” promoted by the United States, the United Nations responded militarily. This procedure didn’t involve the Security Council’s intervention because the USSR had boycotted any chance to mediate the conflict. Therefore, the General Assembly passed this resolution and almost a million troops of the UN Command (more than half South Koreans and a third Americans) stopped the invasion and recuperated their territory. Chinese and North Korean troops defended themselves and they ended up in a dead point.
In 1953 both sides reached a cease-fire and the Armistice Agreement was signed in July 27 and declared a Demilitarized Zone, just as the Rhineland after the Treaty of Versailles. It is a 4km buffer zone near the 38th Parallel. South Korea was not a signatory, but the USA, China and North Korea and the aim of this cease-fire was to reach a peaceful settlement of the dispute. However, it never came and the Geneva conference in 1954 was not effective at all.
The situation between the two Koreas is still tense and the armistice was the only safeguard for peace in this area. After North Korea declared it invalid it has increased the world’s expectative for the development of this issue. North Korea is considered since the Korean War a very dangerous country because Kim il-Sung and his son and grandson Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un have been leading a communist dictatorship hostile to Americans and their allies. Moreover, since 2006, they have nuclear power in their hands and had made several bomb trials. They preserve the largest standing army in the world and it is clear that militarism is still alive there, more than ever, with Kim Jong-un.

GEOGRAPHICAL DIVISION OF KOREA
A long time ago there was only one big korea, very powerful, but in 1948 it was separated into two individual countries under the names of North Korea and South Korea. After the second world war ended. The USSR occupied the north part of Korea, and USA occupied the south part of Korea. This moment mark the life of millions of people forever. As North Korea became communist it become an enemy to many countries. Specially of South Korea which was a democratic government. This started creating tention between them. After it was divided into 2 countries the frontier between both of the countries was decided to be delimitarized. It is 250km long and 4km wide. It was decided to be delimitarized in July 27, 1953. The 38th parallel was an imaginary line that crosses the delimitarized zone.
This division had affect the lifes of North Korea in a horrible way. They live on bad conditions. Many people die of starvation. The country is a disaster total chaos everywhere since the start. As it is a communist country it is not affected by globalization. On the other hand South Korea is very prosperous and have a growing economy. The total area of North Korea is 120,540 km2. In South Korea the total area is of 100,210 km2.
